Tired of endless mall walking in search of a perfect Christmas gift that is nowhere to be found? Hate giving gift cards or gift certificates and cash just because it seems impossible to come up with anything better?
This holiday season, find unique ways to let the people in your life know that you care. Get creative, get personal and get fun; get a gift that will bring joy to her or him you love this Christmas.
Projects to Do and Make
Instead of toys that quickly lose their appeal, projects to make and do entertain during the process of creation and then become all the more special because they were made by the recipient. A craft set for making beaded jewelry, a T-shirt or canvas bag and special fabric crayons and pens for decorating, or a small set of wood working tools and pieces of cut wood can provide hours of entertainment. These gifts also often teach useful skills and encourage artistic abilities. Some kits can be purchased with the supplies and tools included. For a more personalized gift or to monitor the quality of the tools included a gift giver might choose the supplies and tools and pick a useful bag or box that could serve as storage later.
Homemade Items that Everyone Needs
Sometimes a gift item of a usable, consumable product with a personalized touch can be both affordable and appreciated. Children’s artwork can be scanned and made into calendars or greeting cards. Lip balm, bath salts, or bath oil can be made with items from the grocery and craft store. For kids simple recipes abound for play dough, homemade bath crayons, and homemade sidewalk chalk.
Since everyone needs to eat, ready-to-make meal mixes such as soup in a jar or muffin and bread mix can be great gifts as well. The gift of something useful need not be boring. It can be a playful twist on the usual or something a bit more extravagant than expected. But the element of usefulness ensures the gift will be appreciated rather than stored away.
Gift Tickets to Local Attractions, Museums or Performances
Gifts of tickets to local attractions, museums, or performances can encourage the appreciation of the arts. Families might appreciate an annual pass to a zoo or Children’s Museum near their home. Some performing arts centers offer packets of tickets to various events. Concerts or even movie theater tickets can be great gifts especially as families cut back on the entertainment budget and such attractions become a rare treat.
Instead of focusing on things to purchase, gifts that focus on activities can bring smiles and avoid both the shopping pitfalls and the return lines.Gifts that interest and give fun to the recipient need not be expensive or even purchased. With some planning and creative ideas, thought, smart gift givers can get through Christmas with some money left in their pocket.

Christmas is a season of gifts and sharing, and every family will have their own traditions and ideas, such as hanging decorations together, having a big family feast, and exchanging presents.
Although we sometimes hate to admit it, choosing presents can be a headache, especially if you have a large family and a tight budget.
MAKE YOUR OWN UNIQUE AND INEXPENSIVE HOMEMADE GIFTS THIS CHRISTMAS
If you are good in needlework, you can sew, knit or crochet small projects as Christmas gifts.
You can sew cute animal plush toys for children. They can double up as fridge magnets or pin cushions. Cute animals like a tortoise or food with faces are always hits with the kids and even adults.
Handmade throw pillows or knitted fleece blankets are excellent as gifts too. You can also knit scarves, mittens, and hats for everyone. They make practical gifts.
You can have the blankets or pillowcases embroidered with the recipients’ names to make them personalized. You can also let the children to pick their favorite cartoon fabrics as their pillow or cushion case.
PAPER CRAFTS
If you love paper crafts, you can make mini scrapbooks or altered journals. Mini scrapbooks are excellent as memory keepsakes. There are many samples available online that you can follow. Just make them according to the recipient’s favorite theme, add photos and sentiments on the pages, and that is it. This will be a very special gift and the recipient will surely appreciate your effort.
You can also compile poems and quotes for those who love collecting them. Altered journals are great for this purpose. Just print the poems and quotes, cut them nicely and stick them onto the journal pages. You can write your own messages too.
Another paper craft that you can make is personalized stationery. Print the stationery sets; add a nice writing pen and you have yourself a gift ready.
CONTAINERS MADE TO ORDER
Household items such as jars, bottles, tins and baskets can be made into beautiful Christmas gifts too. They can be altered, decorated with ribbons and other types of embellishments, and filled up with various items. Fill a nice tin can with homemade potpourri, while a jar can be decorated with ribbons and filled with goodies.
Be creative with the goodies, they can be anything from crafting materials such as buttons, brads, and ribbons, to delicious edibles such as candies. All these ideas can be personalized according to the recipients’ preferences.
You can fill baskets with goodies too, and they can be anything from food to perhaps sewing or other crafting materials. Make these gifts more personalized with photos and sayings.
MAKE A SPLASH WITH HANDMADE SKIN CARE AND BATH
For something adventurous, unique and wildly appreciated, you can make your own handmade skincare and bath items.
You can make bar soaps, shower gel, bath bombs, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, and even homemade cream masks. These items can be scented or non-scented. Use essential oils for the extra benefits.
While you are at it, why not make some scented candles, these are a natural with handmade bath items for a spa experience extra-ordinaire.
The ingredients used to make scented candles are similar to those used to make soaps. You can make a range of items with the same scent, pack them up nicely in reusable plastic jars and bottles, wrap them together in a basket, and you have got yourself a nice Christmas gift.
HOMEMADE CAN BE INEXPENSIVE, EASY AND MORE FUN THAN THE MALL
Homemade gifts are not difficult to make and they usually don’t cost much. All you need is your imagination and lots of effort.
Save some money this Christmas and make beautiful, thoughtful gifts for everyone.
You will be amazed how much your homemade gifts are appreciated.

Christmas Baskets for Christmas Gift Giving

For many years I have been looking for alternatives to Christmas shopping. I find the crowds annoying, the pushing and shoving unnecessary and parking a nightmare. Having to buy all those presents in a few days shopping after working all day or on a Saturday when everyone and his cousin is doing the same thing takes away from the joy of really appreciating the true meaning of Christmas. I made a plan to do things differently.
The idea came to me when I was out looking for a special present. On every aisle they had gift box ideas. I thought why not take a box and personalize it. I had a friend who loved to read. I bought her a book by her favorite author, put a mug inside with a gourmet hot chocolate tucked in the cup and an aromatic candle. All told the Christmas basket cost me eleven dollars and I knew she would be thrilled with the thoughtfulness of my choices.
For many of my family members I make Christmas baskets full of goodies. For those of you who are familiar with making jellies or canning there are hundreds of recipes that are very easy to fix, require little time and are so much more fun than the traditional tie or sweater. Some choices are zucchini pineapple preserves, jalapeno jelly, lavendar sugar, chocolate coffee, or spiced tea. Make your own gourmet instant soups. All of these are incredibly easy to make and take very little time and can be made months in advance of December. Wonderful Christmas baskets!
If you have a backyard garden try making your own spaghetti sauce, enchilada sauce, pickles or relishes. All vegetables can be dried as well as herbs. Why not try dehydrated tomatoes, bell peppers, squash or onions. Following the directions of your dehydrator chop herbs finely or thinly slice fruits, dry and put into zip lock bags. Keep in the freezer until time to pack into your Christmas baskets and deliver.
Every cook loves fresh herbs. Plant seeds a couple of months ahead of time in very small pots and put under growing lights. Chives, parsley, rosemary, or different mints are favorites. Including these in your Chistmas baskets will make you a favorite of any cook. These are beautiful gifts to give and receive.
For your favorite gardener put a variety of flower or vegetable seeds, bulbs, a favorite tool, gloves or a unique garden ornament into your Christmas basket.
The last ten years I have been making goody baskets for my siblings and immediate family. They have been a huge hit. I bought several 12inch x12inch x 8inch baskets at my local hobby store. In each basket I put a jar of homemade spaghetti sauce, relish or pickle, packages of dried herbs and a jar or two of jelly, homemade pint bag of 12 bean soup, hot cocoa or chocolate coffee.
The exact list that goes into the Christmas basket changes from year to year depending on how much gardening I have an opportunity to do; new ideas or recipes I have found. The wonderful thing is my Christmas baskets are ready to be packed in August or September at the end of the gardening season and I didn’t have to beat the rush or the crowds. I hope this has inspired you to try something new this gift-giving season. Try Christmas baskets!
Jingle Bell Rock – the Gift of Music at Christmas (christmas Gifts)
November 24, 2009 by admin

Have you ever met anyone who can honestly say that they hate music? From heavy metal through classical to laidback easy listening jazz, everyone has their favourite types of music, bands and artists so why can it be such a challenge to find musically themed Christmas Gifts?
Discounting the cheap teddy (oh-so-readily available) that blares out Jingle Bells when you squeeze its paw, and for some reason you can never find the replacement batteries for, when it’s worn out by the second of December, and rejecting the ‘Christmas Hits’ album, usually free with your Sunday newspaper (and to be honest that would be a present worthy of Scrooge anyway!), what sort of Christmas Gifts can you bestow upon the music fanatic, young or old?
Of course, there’s always the option of the traditional CD, where the good, the bad and the ugly (Bob the Builder anyone?) are whisked off the supermarket shelf in the inevitable scramble for Gifts and presented to wary recipients. But let’s face it, unless the CD is a perfect choice, it could end up in the jumble sale box of unwanted Christmas Gifts by New Year’s Day.
So what are the alternatives? Tired of traipsing round old record shops looking for musical Gifts amidst crowds of angry shoppers, and ready to give the next person who elbows you in the back a red nose to rival Rudolph’s, then it is possible to opt for more original Christmas Gifts. The humble mix tape, often forgotten and overlooked in today’s digital era, has been revived in the novel form of a USB stick hidden in a cassette shape (a USB Mix Tape); same old personal and sentimental value but modern and innovative. For the party animal who loves their music loud, maybe some ice cubes shaped like electric guitars and music notes, and some ear plugs for the neighbours!?
The teenager that may scorn CDs as out-dated technology could appreciate the more fashionable Gifts such as the extensive range of iPod and mp3 player accessories that are now available.
Then there’s the option of Christmas Gifts that inspire musical creativity for the owner. An electric guitar, a keyboard, or a set of drums could be a dream (and rather expensive) present, but you can expect to kiss goodbye to your ‘Silent Nights’ and wake up with a headache resembling a killer hangover after the office party if the Christmas Gifts are well used. Perhaps the aspiring rock star may instead be grateful to receive a personalised music legend calendar where they can finally see their name in lights. For the chance to become a true star and top the charts, you could give someone a voucher for a session in a professional recording studio. Everyone’s got to start somewhere!
For those who already have a record collection to rival a large music store, maybe consider practical Christmas Gifts such as A-Z CD dividers, to organise their music and to enable them to find that dusty, forgotten album easily and quickly.
For Gifts that are thoughtful and personal, perhaps consider a shared experience, for example tickets to a gig or a concert. Following the recent TV trend of shows such as ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Any Dream Will Do’ a dancing lesson or theatre break would make excellent and unforgettable Christmas Gifts. Alternatively, it is now possible to select any number one record and to set it in a personalised plaque that can be hung up on the wall as a unique and individual present.
However, it’s important to remember not to get too stressed by the frantic rush of buying last minute Gifts and to enjoy yourself and relax over the festive season. Maybe take some ‘me-time’ and treat yourself to a calming, chill-out CD and a glass of mulled wine as you put your feet up (or even as you wrap the Christmas Gifts). The perfect musical indulgence!
Music is such an essential part of Christmas; children chanting ‘Away in a Manger’ in the annual Nativity tableau, carol singers in the street and ‘Fairytale of New York’ on repeat in every shop in town. Musical Gifts make brilliant presents and with such an array of musical books, posters, CDs, DVDs, t-shirts, sheet music, gig tickets, theatre tickets, concert tickets and even musically themed cufflinks on the internet and on the High Street there are bound to be some Christmas Gifts to suit even the fussiest musical enthusiast this festive season.

How to Choose a Funny Christmas Gift

We all expecting to receive gifts on birthday, New Year, Christmas, and other holidays, or “just because” without any special reason. In this article we will talk about how to choose a Christmas gift for a friend or loved one, that she/he would say that your gift is the best (not considering its price).
Firstly it is quite important to get information about the test and preferences of the person you want to make a gift to. Secondly to know if she/he is practical or idealistic person. And finally – what is a purpose of your gift: to give a good impression (what a beautiful thing or how expensive is it), to present a gift which has a practical usage or something the person where dreaming about (toaster, motobyke, house etc) or to make her/him laugh (for example, life jackets including a humorous Christmas cards with a title inside, for instant “for the future yacht, let all your dreams to come true, Merry Christmas to you!”, or lets say, pink glasses with a note in funny Christmas cards “Please, put on right glasses – see, Life is not as bad as it seemed before, Merry Christmas!”).
Funny Christmas gifts are ordinary things which can make you smile. Even a small inexpensive thing can be a great gift – it depends on a person you present a gift to and the way you do it. There are many options yet and so many choices. Just make sure the person will understand your humor!
So, how to present gifts in the right way… For humorous gifts you need a funny photo Christmas card (for, instant you can get it from a shop with Christmas staff) or printable Christmas cards which you can find on the website even free of charge where you’ll write your funny Christmas wishes (jokes). Christmas jokes and wishes also you can find in Internet or to think out by yourself. Having proper photo Christmas cards you can make ordinary things to get unordinary meanings. For example – gifting clock/alarm/watch you can write in Christmas greeting card following expression: “Benjamin Franklin said: Time Is Money, so now you will watch a time and will make lots of money!” or presenting a wallet point out that “Famous George Bernard Shaw said: Money has a tendency to reproduce themselves – then this wallet definitely will stimulate them to do it. Besides, there are lots of funny animated Christmas cards with ready fun, jokes, so you can make your pals laugh even before you come to visit him/her.
But I would like to give one warning: sociologists determined that most women do not like funny gifts, not because they don’t have a sense of humor… But why? It will be in my next article!
Merry Christmas, everyone!
