How can you prevent getting the red ring of light or rrod on your xbox 360. THX?

i just want to know because I am going to get one on christmas and Ive herd there was a high rate of the rrod case just wanna know how i can prevent it

The newer consoles dont have the problem anymore, microsoft have fixed it.
You CAN’T prevent it..mine did it…but it was fixed for free and back within 3 weeks..it had a new motherboard..I think they have made them less likely to go wrong now though. Don’t worry ’bout it
Make sure it’s in a well ventilated area. You may also want to purchase a cooling pad (like you would use for a laptop) for it. Usually the cause of red rings is overheating and/or poor ventilation. You can’t always prevent it, but this will greatly reduce the chances of it happening.
This is still an ongoing issue, but luckily, Microsoft has recognized this and has extended the warranty on this issue. The warranty for red rings is now three years, and all other covered issues are one year. If you do encounter any trouble, call them at 1 (800) 4MY XBOX, and they will arrange for your console to be repaired. They ship you a box to send it in, and usually it’s returned to you in 2-4 weeks.
