In the United Kingdom (UK) the housing association in South Shields in the South Tyneside Homes, notified a member that their outside display of Christmas lights had to be removed. It was said these lights were offensive to non-Christians. It is DISGUSTING that the homeowners association tries to limit people’s freedom of expression and freedom of religion. If a Christian wants to have Christmas lights, or a Jew a star of David, or a Hindu Ganesh, let them, so long as it is tasteful. Of course, people of other religions do not want to limit the freedom of expression and freedom of religion of Christians. They don’t want to see a precedent set that could be used to oppress them too. Everyone enjoys the same rights. That’s freedom.
